Trullo To Rent In Puglia Logo

t. 07767 861

We have a guest book packed with comments, stories and recomendations in the Trullo and we try to keep a few on our website for your reference. We started scanning the pages for authenticity, but it has proven too difficult to keep getting hold of the actual book so we stopped. Hope that's ok!! Besides, some of our guests are writing novels... It's great for us to read. We also receive lots of cards, letters and testimonials on the Owners Direct website complimenting us on our Trullo, so we include some of those too.

We leave little folders in the house for our guests to leave cards on the best beaches, restaurants, places of interest and towns to visit, for future guests to enjoy.

The Lonely Planet Guides for Puglia visited the Trullo and were amazed by its' beauty and superb facilities. We have a mention as a great place to stay in the Puglia and Basilicata edition and are really proud by it's inclusion.

Happy reading... Hopefully you'll be writing your own comments in the near future.

Ciao xx

Every Detail Covered - Kirsty M UK Sept 2015

Every detail of a luxurious and tranquil stay has been poured over and considered by the owners. A hammock for two, bikes to collect the fresh bread from Alberbello for breakfast, a proper coffee machine, and even Sky TV (not that it was needed). Highly recommended!

Trully Fantastic! - Louise C. France July 2015

A beautiful Trullo ! Perfect for 2 small families. Alex the owner made us feel very welcome. The house is fully equipped and decorated with taste. The pool is a good size, we spent hours bathing and bronzing sipping Rose wine and enjoying the fantastic weather. Trullofamiglia's location is Perfect close to many typical little Italian villages. We loved Locorotondo with it's narrow winding streets, live music in the summer and great restaurants where the pasta dishes are delicious and extremely reasonable ! We fell in love with Puglia and the Trullo.

A Fabulous and Tranquil Holiday - Simon H UK July 2015

The photographs of this Trullo are absolutley a true reflection of this tranquil and private setting.

For a family with a couple of teenagers getting away from it all was what we wanted and its exactly what we got. The location is only 5 minutes out of the lovely Alberobello where we spent a few good evenings dining and soaking up the atmosphere. All the other evenings were spent either using the BBQ and cooking local produce or cooking local dishes (well trying to) in the small but very well equipped kitchen. The outside terrace with the large table and chairs were perfect for every meal of the day and long evenings looking out across the olive fields and admiring the sunsets whilst sipping cold wine from the very large wine cooler!

Each room had a fan in it which was a very welcome extra! Although the walls are incredibly thick to help with keeping things cool the weather was "molte caldo" throughout our whole holiday.

The entire accommodation was well presented, very clean and well looked after. Alex, the owner, has provided mountain bikes which are a great way to cycle around all the tiny lanes in the countryside. We were provided with great instructions of how to get there by Alex together with lots and lots of advice as to where to go when we were there and it was all very helpful. Alex was always happy to speak, email or text at pretty much any time to provide any help as was Maria who was local and very attentive.

A fantastic place in a lovely area and one which we will certainly be looking to visit again.

Wonderful Stay at Trullo Famiglia - Fiona W. UK. July 2015

We were a party of 6. Some pool people and some sporty. The trullofamiglia suited us all. The property is situated in beautiful, peaceful countryside and is really comfortable and very well equipped. Alberobella is only 5 minutes away and there are 6 new bikes so you don't even need to drive. We thought it was very good value and a really special holiday.

Trullo Famiglia Fantastico - John UK June 2014

What an awesome place, the location, property and surroundings are perfect. Alex has thought of everything and the Trullo has been renovated to a very high standard with no expense spared for all the creature comforts we expect on a holiday.

You can see that luxury is a key factor and the beds and living area live up to this with large comfy Sofa’s and a dining area that makes you feel at home right away. The extra touches of Sky TV and Bose music system help with entertaining the children (and adults alike). Also there’s a great welcome pack of food and drink for arrival, with all the basics to get started, and the local supermarkets close-by allow you to replenish stocks for very low cost.

The external areas are just stunning with idyllic views of the rolling Puglia countryside, where you can relax in the sun next to the private pool on one of the loungers or the shaded sofa area. If you’re feeling more energetic you can take a bike ride through the country, or bring out the competitive edge with a game of giant Jenga or connect 4 as we did. As the sun sets you can prepare for an relaxing outdoor evening under the stars around the large wooden table to enjoy dinner and a nice glass of wine - I’d recommend buying some meat from one of the many local butchers and grilling it up on the BBQ.

Getting out and about is so easy and there’s plenty of information in the Trullo to help with this. The oldest and most historic town in Puglia, Alberobello is only a few minutes away, it’s a must, there’s so much to explore around the little cobbled streets and may great bars, restaurants to unwind in. Don’t forget an Ice cream or two along the way. We used to sit in the piazza with the locals and watch the world go by. Other local must visits are Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino. Also within a short trip are some great cove style beaches at Fasano and Monopoli.

There is one place you must visit for an out of this world dining experience, “Paradiso di Puglia” run by Michele, Maria and family where local fresh homegrown pugliese food is served with top level hospitality. We tended to let them order for us as its all amazing, but you must try one of Graziano’s Pizza’s. the best you’ll ever have!!!

I can’t stress what a true gem of a place Alex has here in the perfect location with the highest standard of service from Maria (the property manager)and Jonathan (the pool guy) who are more than happy to help out and advise on places to eat or visit.

Amazing Trullo - IC Bath UK Aug 2013

We stayed at Trullio Famiglia at the end of the summer with my 3 grown up sons before two of them went back to University and the youngest back to work. It is a beautiful Trullo done up to a very high standard with stunning views. The inside has a very well equipped kitchen with adjacent dining room and all the bedrooms and sitting room were very comfortable with the added bonus of Sky TV. There are two good sized bathrooms too. The outside is absolutely amazing. With the pool, covered eating area, good size BBQ, covered logia and hammock area and of course not forgetting the outside music speakers. There are plenty of loungers around the pool and loads of cushions for the outdoor seating area. We spent alot of time at the Trullo and because we are keen cooks would often go to the market in Alberobello for fresh fish and veg and come back and have great BBQ's. There are also some really good restaurants all in Alberobello just a short driving distance away. I would highly recommend this Trullo for a very relaxing holiday for all ages. Even with four very tall men in our family we all loved our week at Trullo Famiglia.

Peace and Tranquility - Walls UK July 2014

This was my third visit to Trullo Famiglia with friends, and rudely, I have previously failed to write a review that this fabulous place deserves. I feel almost at home here now, and I plan to book another week later this year.

The property itself is extremely well presented and the owners have obviously thought long and hard about creature comforts and the layout, as everything is perfectly catered for (two luxury toilets, three great sized bedrooms, comfy lounge and a useable well designed kitchen with lovely dining area) not to mention Sky television in the cosy lounge.

The outside is picturesque with a lovely pool, beautiful ouside area, and the location itself is far enough away from any road noise you can basque happily in the sun without any disturbance. The owners certainly stumbled across a gem here. If you want to get away from it all and just relax then this is the place to do it.

If you want to shop, or simply enjoy strolling, taking in the scenery or enjoying a glass of wine whilst sitting outside at one of the many lovely bars in Alberobello, which is the nearest town a short drive away, then the choice is yours. Some of the scenery is breathtaking and the atmosphere in the centre of the town if magical, especially at night time.

If you are looking for a place to eat, and I mean ,really eat, then the restaurant recommendation would without hesitation would be Paradiso di puglia, a friendly, family run business that, to be honest puts our idea of hospitality to shame! Homegrown and locally sourced fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meats and delicious olive oil.....I am already looking forward to my next visit......

Duncan & Family June 2014

Brilliant in Every Way

We invited friends from the USA (who demand high standards) to stay at the Trullo. It met all of our wishes, absolutely fabulous house. Full of home comforts and every needed essential.

Only comment, it would have been nicer to have a heated pool, just for the cooler days. COMPLETED FOR 2016 SEASON

Trullo Famiglia - Paul & Sasha Häggqvist 2013 and 2014

My wife and I booked to stay at Trullo Famiglia almost three years ago for a very special occasion, our 30th wedding anniversary and we had a really delightful two week stay there.

Trullo Famiglia is a typical trullo which has been impressively restored and is situated on the outskirts of one of the most famous (and our favourite) towns of the Itria valley, Alberobello. It has all you would expect to have including a large swimming pool but equally importantly, there are so many trees around that you can forage as much as you could care to for all the fresh figs, almonds, cherries and other fruit.

We enjoyed the trullo so much, together with the Pugliese way of life, that we came back to stay twice more over the next year or so, staying with friends, discovering more of the countryside and the towns to the extent that we have become totally smitten with the food, wine and culture (not forgetting the beautiful weather!) that we are buying our own trullo about an hour away,

Alex cares about his visitors who stay at the Trullo and has been on hand via his mobile to answer any query whereas the lovely local manager, Maria, is ready to help whenever the need arises.

September 2013 McGinty-Lau-Puchawski Family Trieste, London,Bristol
The Trullo has been a great place to explore the area and relax in the evenings. It has been fun to stay in and we appreciated having the pool and outdoor area. Met Maria who was very helpful and friendly. Ate at Paradiso di Puglia – Amazing reception from Michele. Interesting to eat in Cisternino if you are a meat eater. If you have ever heard of Albano it is worth a visit to his vineyard in Cellino S.Marco. Martina Franca, Matera and Lecce were among our favourite places to visit. All in all a lovely family vacation.

The Craft Family 24-31 August 2013 Bath, Truro, Oxford
We have had a great week at Trullo Famiglia relaxing by the pool most afternoons. In the mornings we visited local towns, Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina Franca. We loved the deli in Alberobello by the covered market, where we also picked up fresh fish.

17-24 August 2013
We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful Trullo – Well done Alex and family for renovating so well and providing a perfect place to stay. We spent most of our week by the pool and lounging around doing little – the speakers in the garden were fantastic!!! We did venture into Alberobello twice (one on Thursday, Market day which was very interesting). We loved the Trulli zone and wandering around the streets and the locals were so friendly and helpful. We are leaving the Trullo refreshed after doing very little for a week. Thanks for a great place to stay in a great location. Fiona, Tony and Kids. Thank you for an amazing holiday. We had lots of fun. Loved relaxing in the hammock and manoeuvring the one-way streets. The Andersons

July 2013 The Walls – Worcestershire, UK Kyle, Sara, Vivienne and Lea Sweet – Oklahoma USA
The Walls: Trulli Stunning! One of our best holidays yet, and we’ve had a few! Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Ostuni and a whole host of out-of-the-way-towns and villages. Those we visited always had there own particular charm. Food everywhere has never been less than very, very good; we’ve had fantastic meals and no poor meals. Whether we were out exploring the area or just chilling out by the pool, this is the perfect place to kick back and relax… We’'ll be back. The sweets (The Americans ;0)) We have enjoyed the beautiful Trullo home. Italy is beautiful for all of us it’s the first time and we loved every minute. We have found Italians to be lovely and the food is fantastic. Go to Fidicio’s, eat the antipasto and enjoy the gardens. Thank you, grazie.

June/July 2013 The Duke Family –Buckinghamshire
We have been extremely lazy – popping onto Alberobello most mornings for supplies/ice cream and relaxing by the pool after lunch and going out to dinner every evening. The furthest we have been is Locorotondo which is a beautiful little town. We have been entertained by the swallows every afternoon who make it known the pool, is very much theirs :0)

22.3 – 29.6 2013 The Barry-Smiths – Buckinghamshire
Has been lovely relaxing by the pool in the glorious sunshine in this pretty part of Italy and to stay in a Trullo. A good combination of relaxing, sight seeing. The food and wine have been delicious.

8.6 – 15.6 2013 Freya, Owen and Amber
Wow – What an amazing place! We have absolutely loved our stay at your beautiful Trullo. Found the place no problems and the facilities are really good. Much appreciated Alex’s assistance with a couple of issues and Maria for her help too. Thank you for such a lovely holiday-we just wish we had booked 2 weeks now… P.S. Just told my daughter we’re leaving and she burst into tears “ But I love this house”

Sept 2012 - Three Weeks
We had a great time at the Trullo. It's a wonderful place with peaceful surroundings. The weather has been great 23-28 each day. We enjoyed the chance to explore places at our own leisure, but most of all eating great food on the BBQ, swimming in the pool and generally doing nothing around this great villa. Thank you Alex & Co., Maria and Jonathon. All very kind and helpful. Coleman and Groves Family

August 2012
The Trullo is truly fascinating. We just love its quirkiness with everything you would need for a perfect holiday. Jonothan the pool man is very helpful with recommendations and you must try an espressino freddo delicious. Duffell/Trinick Family

September 2010
We had a very relaxing holiday in your Trullo and particularly enjoyed the hammock and pool. The Trullo is lovely amongst the olive and fig trees and away from the hustle and bustle of town life. We went to Paradiso di Puglia on our last night and enjoyed the food and hospitality extended to us by Michele (the owner) He was very complimentary about the quality of the restoration of your Trullo. Maria

August 2010

July 2010
We all thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing stay in your wonderful Trullo, many thanks. It was an easy drive down from Naples, just over 3hrs on mainly autoroute. The Trulli definitely make it a really unique place to visit and eat. Glenda

July 2010
We had a lovely week in your Trullo, the weather was perfect and we love Alberobello and the surrounding area. It is so pretty and very much in contrast to the week we spent in Alezio prior to coming. We all loved our stay so much and thank you for helping make our holiday memorable. All directions; easy to follow, restaurant recommendations, excellent. Many thanks, Kate.

June 2010
We had a wonderful time. The Trullo and weather were perfect. Our 3 girls loved it too and we even went into an estate agents in Alberobello! Best regards, Alison.

June 2010
Just to say the Trullo is everything we wanted a perfect end to our honeymoon. It?s such a fabulous place, you must be very proud. We will definitely be visiting again in the future. Thank you so much. Kelly-Jo

August 2009
Thanks for a relaxing week. After a busy week in Rome & Pompeii it was just what we needed. The Trullo is truly beautiful and the secluded spot is ideal. Malcolm, Allison, Kim and Val

August 2009
It?s quite usual to see websites, photo's, etc of a place and think how amazing it looks then feel a disappointed when you see it in real life.
Trullo Famiglia in real life is outstanding even more than the website suggests. Mick, Donna and Claire.

June 2009

What can we say! We’re very sad to be leaving the Trullo. We have had a superb week. The accommodation was fantastic. Very comfortable, with everything we needed and more! Enjoyed beating John at ‘Connect 4’.

The view is truly amazing. What a fantastic place to really relax and switch off from our busy lives back home.

The people here are wonderful; you must go to’ Paradiso di Puglia’, we ate there most nights, the hospitality is outstanding!!!... Nicola and John

August 2009

We thought we had struck gold when we found your website whilst looking for somewhere to end our honeymoon in Puglia. We were right! You have created a really lovely and welcoming holiday home. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and must ashamedly admit that after two weeks of museums and hotels; your DVD collection was a truly welcome sight to behold… Great taste by the way (not just in films but also for the entire place). You obviously put a lot of thought into the place. We loved it. And the pool was a good size too!! Nick and Emma.

June 2009

Superb Trullo, all the facilities as described, thanks Alex for all your help.

N.B. Plenty to do and see, but the Grottoes of Castellana are a must. Roger and Brenda.

16th - 30th June '07
Great place to relax and forget about the day to day activities of life. We had a trulli wonderful time! Casey family, Dublin, Ireland

18th - 21st July
A very nice and relaxing stay. Some thoughts on restaurants: Cisternino: Osteria del Italia: Was recommended to us and the food is clearly ambitious but we thought the food was only OK. Taverna della Torre: We went here and found good honest food at reasonable prices. Card is in the box. Martina Franca: Al Ritrovo degli Amici: A lovely restaurant with very good food. An interesting wine list at reasonable prices. Only open for dinner. Alberobello: La Localita di Don Antonio: A nice local restaurant with good food at good prices. Card in box La Cantina: We didn't go but a few people told us it is good.

21/7 - 4/8/07
Lovely place, very hot and pleased to have the food! Do eat at La Cantina in the middle of town, it's very very good. Do go to Martina Franca market on Wednesday, and to south Lecce and Matera - longish drives, but worth the effort.

4-18 Aug 07 Bad Fallingbostel, Germany
A good family friendly home - essential for us as we had our 18 months old with us.

Paradiso di Puglia

Everyone says so, and it is really a MUST. The family who own it are close friends of the Trullo owners and are incredibly friendly. The food is also very good and cheap

Places to visit:
Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorondo - all mentioned in the book and all worth a trip. Ostiani is a definite must see. It is a little jewel of a place with great architecture, restaurants and shops. One place to avoid at all costs is Taranto. It is a horrible, run-down place with a horrendous one-way system which you are guaranteed to get lost in.

The Adriatic coastline is very rocky and rugged with really sandy beaches taken over by beach clubs. These are pretty expensive. Two sunbeds & an umbrella will set you back €14.

To reach the Lazian coast you have to go via Taranto (see previous comments). Beaches are sandier here. Again, we used a beach club as we had a baby with us, so needed umbrellas etc. If we hadn't, we sure there are some really nice secluded beaches to discover along nice coastline.

14th September 2007
Do go to "Matera"!! - It's outstandingly amazing! Like nothing else I've seen... ever! Beautiful...
Do spend an evening meandering in "Polignano a Mare" - stunning old town - ate great food there too! !
Don't let Italian drivers get you down - they love honking their horns - get over it!
Do enjoy at least one glass of champagne by the pool (in hammock?) - it's "holiday" defined!
Don't arrive at "Castel Del Monte" after it's closed - apart from the fact its interior is supposed to be great! - The dozens of owls flying overhead will spook you!! - either it's an amazing building...

All in all, an outstanding holiday! Thanx loads - the Trullo, inside and out, was perfect - the pool and hammock fantastic - local area and all the Italians we spoke to were lovely...

- The whole region is a photographic delight, fascinating architecture ranging from the rugged agriculture through to the baroque masterpieces in Matera and Monopoli - Pirenesi! - Escher!
- Fantastic, dreamy, luxury Trulli, all mod cons, so thoughtfully kitted out, everything a family could want.
- Choose restaurants that appear to be full of lively Italians.... It's a sure bet of good food and if poss wait till 9-9:30 before making your choice as the locals seem to go out to eat between then and 11pm, any earlier you'll get an empty restaurant!

Loved the villa/Trulli. Well done on the renovation and details (Hammock!)
I really enjoyed Matera & a small restaurant in Polignano a Mare in the historical point.
The sea on the east coast was a little rampant.
Restaurants - try something different, - we tried somewhere with no menu and had the best time/food.
The steps around the Trullo are really slippery in flip flops.
iPod dock - brilliant detail - and the outside speakers.
Maps - take with a pinch of salt
Loved the fact that 2 main bedrooms were at each end of the house - perfect for two couples.
Drinks fridges - brilliant addition.
All in all, great time, beautifully friendly people, great food, warm weather - perfect!

Gorgeous Trullo, great weather, delicious food, fabulous historical sites - all in all, a great holiday!

So - visit Matera, Ostiani, Castel del Marte and Polignano a Mare, all lovely to wander round and take great photos.
- Spend some time making use of the Trullo & and all the various sources of entertainment (hammocks, lilos, Connect 4, Jenga, bikes.....- )
- Look for the more authentic Italian restaurants/pizzerias for a great evening
- Sit and people watch to really soak up the atmosphere

Thanks Alex - so pleased Ian forwarded that E-mail! The website makes it all look amazing and it certainly doesn't disappoint.

We've had a great week and appreciate all the attention to detail - like the showers!
Having outside speakers a great bonus.

Thanks again -
Sarah, Mike, Max and Ali.

15th - 22nd Sept 07
Lovely building, very warm and friendly. Outside area and pool really make it a wonderful place to stay:-

Made good use of the bikes. Cycled into Alberobello, which took about 10/15 minutes. Travelled further afield later but be mindful of the dogs lurking in entrances as the unchained ones can give you a serious run for your money.

A visit to the caves at Castellano are worthy of a visit. You can only go on guided tours which leave regularly. However English speaking tours when we went were only twice a day - 1pm and 4pm.

Restaurants we visited were very good. Great food at good prices, in particular 'Il Guercio di Puglia'. Situated next to the cobbled car park in Alberobello.

Alberobello Market vas very good and covered most of the town. Beware stall holders pack up at lunch time, so be early.

Overall a great holiday. All the locals very friendly and willing to help out.

Vince & Jill,
Aylesbury, Bucks

15-22nd Sept
Ditto all the previous entries re the Trullo! Great place to stay. Kitted out with everything you could need.

Outside space really makes it - great during the day and great to come home to at night and star watch.

Caves worth a visit - the English speaking male guide we had was very amusing!

Worth checking the food section of the phrase book to see what you are eating - otherwise you could end up ordering horse!!

Overall a lovely holiday, different, very enjoyable and relaxing

In all a lovely relaxing break; trullo is fantastic and we're reluctant to fault it because it's perfectly planned and beautifully finished. Thank you. The best holidays are the ones you intend to come back to even if you never do....

17 - 24th May
Weather was mixed, sometimes very hot, but rained a few days. The locals et al are lovely, friendly, welcoming people - but they can't drive! We spent most of our time sunbathing and visited Alberobello everyday, either for provisions by bike/car and/or eating. The old town of the Trulli up the hill was beautiful with some interesting gift shops.

We can highly recommend Pizza Ristorante at the bottom of the main plaza (opposite the old trulli) for eating, as well as Paradiso di Puglia. (Only the 'Ristorante' part of Pizza Ristorante is lit up in Neon and if you go to Paradiso di Puglia, tell Michele where you are staying and ask to see his fruit sculptures - they are amazing. Karaoke only happens on Sunday night but my sister and I enjoyed a good sing along to Britpop classics!).

The Grotte at Castellana were amazing, but be warned, when mum, dad and I got back we found that my twin sister and her boyfriend had got engaged in the time that we had been away! We are all very happy for them, but daddy says we won't be able to afford to come back next year, so it is just as well we have all had a brilliant time this year, with 23rd May 2008 being a date for us all to remember! The Brady family, IOM

25 - 31st May 2008
A late arrival because of late cancellation of flight from Heathrow - lost a day in this beautiful trulli. We are very impressed with everything including the very comfortable beds and sofas. Information spot on too.
Thank you Alex for the use of your holiday home from Marj, Geoff, Stephi, James, Lindsay + Sarah.

Thank you for a lovely week in this beautiful part of Italy, we have enjoyed every minute. Paradiso di Puglia, excellent as recommended and very good value, once we managed to take the right road! Well worth the drive out. We would recommend this lovely Trullo to family & friends as it is ideal for a relaxing holiday with a true Italian feel. Paula & Chris Cheshire, UK.

27th June - 12th July 2008
Firstly, thanks Alex for all your help and advice with booking - it really made our journey to the trullo go very smoothly; and we settled in here very quickly!
The facilities are fantastic, and I have loved spending days by the pool/on the hammock, and evenings drinking wine under the stars - the perfect honeymoon!

All in all: a fantastic holiday; and the trullo has been a wonderful peaceful haven for our honeymoon.
Alex - lovely to to meet you - Say Hi - 'Ciao' to Mikele - and all the best to you & Laura for Feb 09. Love Jan & Bob
Jannine & Bob, Cambridgeshire.

12th July - 19th July 2008
Thanks Alex & Neil for a great week. You've managed to provide the "mod cons" while maintaining a real sense of place.
The location is stunning - very peaceful and relaxing.
Loved the hammock, but particularly loved the outside speakers - inspired!!
It is obvious that you have thought a lot about your guests - and that was proven by the speed in which you reacted to the problem of no hot water. To have that resolved within the hour by a local "handyman" on a Sunday night was very impressive!!
All in all - a great week topped off with fantastic weather.
Thanks very much.

We're coming back but next time we'll fly, it's a long drive from Kent!
Elaine & Paul Hickman, Hawkhurst, Kent , UK.

23rd August - 6th September
The trullo is stunning and and my sons (twin 8yr olds) have enjoyed the Playstation, pool, hammock and Star Wars!
They've even developed a liking for Laurel & Hardy!!!

6th - 13th Sept 2008
Have had a wonderful week - almost too relaxed to put pen to paper now! Truly beautifully restored & facilities great.
Would recommend a visit to Locorotondo, Martina Franca & Polignano al Mare.
If you see the pool-guy, have a chat - he's really nice & he gave us some great recommendations for eating out & directions to restaurants & the supermarket!
